In February Orthodox temples of Primorsky region celebrate Sretenie Gospodne (date is specified on a church calendar). This day Deva Maria for the first time has brought the Son in the Jerusalem temple. They met Simeon Bogopriimets - the old person, lived a just life and who was promised by God, that he won’t be dead, till he meets the Savior, come to make reconciliation and transformation of the world.
Also in February the Pancake week – last preparatory week before the beginning of the Great post is celebrated. Shrovetide is accompanied by noisy amusements and feasts. Since this week, orthodox believers pass to abstention in food - exclude meat from the diet.
These days in Primorye the «Wide Pancake week» is held. It is the big cultural - entertaining program during which inhabitants and visitors of the territory can watch performances of the best dancing and vocal collectives, take part in songs and round dances during the Pancake week, to taste pancakes. Daredevils and tricksters can take part in competition «Shrovetide column». On holiday of a pancake week the internal currency which can be received for participation in competitions and attractions can be exchanged for gifts, prizes and delicacies. The culmination of a holiday becomes farewell to winter and burning of a scarecrow of the Pancake week. Orthodox holiday is finished with Forgiveness Sunday – the day when it is accepted to be sorry about everyone and to forgive everything to everybody.
This month art exhibitions and expositions, literary, musical evenings, concerts, the subjects of which are love (in honor of the Valentine's Day) and courage (in honor the Day of the Defender of Fatherland) are celebrated. Spring
It is possible to name the main holiday of spring a light holiday of Easter – God’s Sunday (date is specified on a church calendar - April / May). It is celebrated by everybody. This day all people welcome each other, saying: «Christ has arisen! », and answering: «Truly arisen! ». Also people present Easter eggs which serve as a symbol of revival of a life. Everywhere cheerful festivals and the exhibitions telling about orthodox Easter traditions are held.

In April the celebrations of the day of the Blessed Virgin (date is specified on a church calendar). This day Deva Maria has heard a joyful message of the heavenly envoy that she is elected by Mother of the Savior of the world. There is a custom on this day, as a token of announcement of freedom to the world, to free birds from cages.
And Palm Sunday is also celebrated in April. The holiday is established in memory of solemn God’s entrance to Jerusalem on free sufferings. The savior was met with set of people with branches of a date palm tree in hands. In such a way the tsars were met, who came back with a celebration after a victory over enemies. In Russia palm branches are replaced with willow ones. During the service in church everybody is given the consecrated branches of a willow and other plants.
Also in April in Primorsky region the following arrangements are held: annual festival of classical music «Far East spring», festival of art creativity of veterans of war and work «to Great-grandsons is bequeathed», festival - competition «Spring voices», festival of musical ensembles of Primorsky region «Argo», competition of sports - ball dance «Crystal shoe». In seaside capital annually last spring month tournament of hairdresser's art «Gold Scissors» is kept. Citizens of Nakhodka in May will see: Inter zonal choral festival, competition of beauty «Ms. Nakhodka», inter-regional festival author's songs and poetry «Grin's Coast», city competition «we are twins» and regional competition of sports - ball dance of «the Star of coast». At the end of May at all seaside schools «Last bell» - a holiday devoted to the school graduation and reception of certificates is widely celebrated. It is the big holiday, both for graduates, and for their parents!
Summer
Summer months in Primorye as any others are rich on cultural and entertaining events. Along the whole region concerts of collectives of national creativity, festival «Creativity of Seaside cities», concert programs of the best collectives of the region «Seaside stars» are held.
The summer is rich also with church holidays.
Celebrating of Voskresenie Gospodnya (date is specified on a church calendar). Last day the seen stay on the ground God, came to the apostles who gathered together, deduced them on mountain Eleonskuju. Here he has explained, what was their purpose, and then blessed. Apostles reverentially bowed and with quivering amazement watched, how He was rising to the sky till the cloud hid Him from their looks.
Trinity (the date is specified on a church calendar) - celebrating the Day of the Sacred Trinity.
The spirit sacred came to apostles as fiery tongues meaning that the savior gave apostles ability and force for Christ sermon; came as fire meaning that he had ability to burn sins and to clear, consecrate and warm souls. This day churches and houses are accepted to be decorated with birch branches and colors that specify updating of all by force of Sacred Spirit and blossoming of all vital forces.
June
In second half or the end of June in Primorsky region it is possible to see the most beautiful and happy young men and girls. They are graduates who are celebrating the finishing of school and passing of final examinations. Annually final evenings become demonstration of the most beautiful refined evening dresses.
July
In July in Vladivostok the Far East Forum of fish branch, festival «Gifts of the sea», festival of art family creativity «Seaside Family», regional festival «Hankaiskie zori» and International festival of sports dance «Star of Primorsky region» are held. Annually some hundreds of dancing pairs participate in festival from all Far East and abroad (China, Japan, Korea). In a judiciary board foreign arbitrators also present. A prize to the winner is the Cup of the governor of Primorsky region. The festival comes to the end with colorful gala concert of the best dancing duets.
August
Last and hottest month of summer in Primorsky region the International congress of workers of fish branch, moto-festival «With a face to ocean» are carried out. Annually some thousand of motor-travelers and simple spectators gather for moto-festival from all nooks of the world. Traditionally the festival is carried out in one of the picturesque bays near the Nakhodka. Here in Nakhodka in August the International sailing regatta between the twin cities is held.
From orthodox holidays of August it is necessary to note:
Preobrajenie Gospodne (date is specified on a church calendar). To strengthen belief of apostles, God showed to a three of them his glory. Being in Galilee, He ascended on mountain Favor and when prayed, his face became shining as the sun, and clothes became white and shining. This day is called in people «Yablochnii spas» as in the day of Preobrajenie Gospodne in temples the first garden fruits - apples and wheat ears are consecrated.
In the middle of August in Slavyanka the festival of bard songs «Slavic coast» is held. The festival collects authors and executors from all Far East, to listen to them more then hundreds fans come there.
During these days on the coast of bay Tinkan the same regional festival of author's songs is carried out. The first «Tinkan», took place in 2001, and was connected with celebrating the 110-anniversary from the date of the basis of the Fokino city. Now the action not only officially became stronger in the status and received a constant registration - a city beach, but also got the mass of admirers. «Tinkan» in translation from Chinese is «gold coast».
Autumn
In the beginning of autumn in Vladivostok the annual Far East inter-regional festival of author's songs «Seaside strings» is carried out. For carrying out of festival comfortable picturesque bays near the seaside capital are chosen. These days in Primorsky region the fans of bard songs from Far East come. The Festival is carried out in marching conditions, therefore tent and sleeping bag, will not be superfluous. September In Vladivostok the Far Eastern international economic congress, insert - fair «Mellow autumn» with participation of gardeners - fans, International festival of sea high schools «Young captains of World ocean», festival of youth culture «Typhoon», International festival «Peace Pacific ocean», devoted to the termination of the Second World war (1945) are held. Action distinguishes the dramatized meeting with participation of military divisions, the public, children's patriotic clubs, march - parade of brass band, carnival street procession, with participation of the creative collectives which arrive to the International festival, exhibitions and concerts. Also these days in Primorye the competition of literary works, regional competition of the best photo works on veterans, Seaside culinary festival are carried out. This most tasty action of year, on which cooks, confectioners, barmen from the Far East gather to define the best. The seaside culinary festival is named one of the most perspective and dynamically developing regional project during which the appetizing dream becomes a reality. At the end of September in Primorsky region physical-sports festival “Day of Primorsky football” is held. Its overall objective is the popularization of this kind of sports. The festival goes off in all stadiums and athletic fields of Primorsky region. Everybody takes part in football competitions - children, teenagers, adults. The festival is carried out within the framework of the governor's program of development of physical training and sports for 2006-2010. October October events is a holiday «My native Primorsky region», devoted to Day of Primorsky region, annual Far East book exhibition-fair «the Printed court yard», festival-competition of «Nakhodka Voice». November Last autumn month in Primorye days of German culture, Regional Pacific choreographic competition «Dancing Olympus» goes off.
